ABI Rehabilitation NZ Ltd is a leader in the field of community rehabilitation in NZ and an accredited provider of community-based rehabilitation for a range of ages. We are looking for looking for someone with a special interest in assisting our kiritaki to return to work and/or find alternative work options with support and guidance.
About the role:
As a Vocational Rehabilitation provider, you will be key working the Stay at Work and Back to Work ACC contracts. You are responsible for detailed work task analyses, developing return to work plans based on employer needs and kiritaki capacity and coordinating with relevant medical certifiers and the broader rehabilitation team. Throughout the vocational pathway you will be in collaboration with kiritaki and their whanau to provide education on recovery and pain management concepts, address barriers and ensure rehabilitation is targeted towards re-engaging with meaningful activities. The vocational journey often requires confident, creative thinking to support kiritaki to overcome task specific demands, graduate activity, help to reduce anxiety fear avoidance around returning to work. For physiotherapists, there is also the scope to provide exercise-based functional rehabilitation for kiritaki engaged with our vocational services.

Applicants should have:
- NZ registered Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist or Registered Nurse with a current Annual Practising Certificate and full driver’s license
- Experience in Vocational and Community rehabilitation preferred but not essential
- Strong communication skills and be able to work collaboratively with kiritaki, whānau, employers and the interdisciplinary team to deliver kiritaki-centered rehabilitation.
- Commitment to the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi
- Ability to work across and with a variety of different employers and stakeholders
