ABI Rehabilitation is CARF (Commission of Accreditation for Rehabilitation Facilities) accredited and a leading service provider in brain injury rehabilitation for adults.  We are a well-established service, with a focus on quality and evidence-based best practice.  ABI Rehabilitation is passionate about providing world class, person-centred rehabilitation to our clients.

We wish to grow our social work team and now have a permanent position available for an experienced Social Worker to join our progressive, supportive, and passionate inter-professional team in the inpatient rehabilitation service. 

The applicant must have:

• Registration with Social Worker’s Registration Board and a current annual practicing certificate (APC)
• Comprehensive Social Work knowledge and appropriate clinical experience
• The ability to relate positively and communicate with a wide range of people
• Experience of working within an inter-professional team
• Strength-based practice principles
• Experience in managing the complex psycho-social needs of patients and whanau within a health setting
• A demonstrated track record providing specialist social work services to clients presenting with neurological impairment
• Experience in A&D or mental health experience preferred
• Current full New Zealand driver’s license

The case load is varied and key areas include delivery of effective social work interventions to clients in the intensive in-patient rehabilitation setting, completion of practical social work tasks to enhance client rehabilitation, whanau/client counselling support and liaison, the running of relevant therapy groups, and participation in ongoing training and development of our staff.
