We are a well-established service, with a focus on quality and evidence-based best practice. Our Wellington Intensive-Inpatient service is seeking a parental leave cover for the role of Speech & Language Therapist -- Part-time, Fixed-term (6 months – March – September 2026)-- to join our skilled and supportive inter-professional team alongside two experienced Speech & language Therapists. This role will provide speech and language therapy services for adult clients with acquired brain injury from the immediate post-acute phase through to community re-integration.
We are seeking NZSTA (New Zealand Speech-language Therapists’ Association) registered Speech and Language Therapists with a minimum of 5 years’ experience; working in neurological rehabilitation is preferred, however, open to all candidates based on experience. You will work alongside experienced SLTs, and contribute to key clinical areas with adults including:
- Cognitive communication disorders, management of expressive and receptive language difficulties, feeding and swallowing, motor-speech, voice, and augmentative-alternative communication
- implementing and evaluating rehabilitation plans and strategies and goal setting
- providing education and training to family/whānau
- report writing
- ongoing training and professional development
Knowledge in cognitive communication disorders, dysphagia, aphasia, dysarthria, augmentative-alternative communication devices, and cognitive rehabilitation is required. Having tracheostomy management experience would be an advantage, but not essential. Previous experience in acquired brain injury rehabilitation is highly preferred.
